Temazcal Ceremony

Discover the Beauty and Healing Power of a Temazcal

Are you looking to explore unique cultural experiences and holistic wellness practices? In my work, I guide people through various purification ceremonies, and this one is among the most intense and rewarding that my husband and I have been guiding.

My passion on this planet is to offer others healing and enhancements related to purification, "rebirth," and expanding our light. It is what Mother Earth and our higher selves call forth for many, and it is my mission. On the other side of purification is new life, and a more conscious and expanded you!

Purification helps us be a channel for more light and clarity and accessing your soul’s truth is the best gift you can ask for.

These ceremonies are a wonderful tool for growth and expansion, helping you connect to what is true within you and for many the remembrance of how anything is possible when in sync with the energies of the Creator.

WHAT IS A TEMAZCAL?

A Temazcal (pronounced teh-MAZ-cal) is a traditional Mexican sweat lodge, derived from the Nahuatl words “Temāzcalli" (house of heat), Tēma (to bathe by pouring), and “Temaz" (steam).

It is a small, domed structure, our Temazcal is made in the likes of an Inipi which is similar to some tribes in the north.  We chose corn stalks as they are most abundant here in California.  They are also made from volcanic rock, adobe,  or wood.

They are designed to facilitate a powerful cleansing and rejuvenation ritual.

HISTORICAL ROOTS:

The Temazcal has been used for centuries by Indigenous peoples of Mexico and Central America, including the Aztecs, Mayans, and other Mesoamerican cultures.  It played a significant role in their daily life for medicinal purposes, spiritual ceremonies, and community bonding.  Many people on Earth have used sweat lodges or steam houses, in addition to Mesoamerican cultures.  The hot houses for ceremonial and healing purposes have been used in Native American Tribes, Chukchi and other Siberian tribes, and Finnish, Scandinavian, Russian, Turkish, Islamic, Korean, Japanese, and Baltic Cultures.   Meaning, these practices are called to us as a way of remembrance and reclaiming who we are.

These ceremonies are experiencing a resurgence as people seek natural and holistic ways to improve their well-being. The earth calls us to heal with her, connect, ground, and take appropriate action to safeguard ourselves and the planet from polluting thoughts and actions.

By listening to pure truth, which only comes when we are a clear vessel, we receive the answers to grow as individuals and elevate our light.

My husband and I have been initiated by Mexica spiritual teachers and the elements, in the Temazcal tradition which closely relates to the ceremonies we have led for years. Armando, my husband, has direct ties to the Aztec lineage, while my experience spans various healing arts since the early '90s, rooted in the Blanca Rosa Curandera lineage into which I was born. Moreover, this work is a divine calling and a remembrance from past lifetimes. We are excited to offer this next-level healing to everyone here in California.

MENTAL PREPARATION:

Your YES to a ceremony is saying YES to your intention for healing.  What exactly is your intentions?  The more you prepare to enter a sacred ceremony, the more power you are drawing toward your willingness to heal and be born new again.

Remember how powerful you are, and that it is your willingness to open your heart and soul to to Great Creator who together create miracles for your own healing in divine timing.

The community altar in front of the Temazcal is prepared with prayers, flowers, herbs, incense, and symbols that give the ceremony its spiritual fuel to soar. Each altar is unique and has its own essence.

PHYSICAL PREPARATION:

Staying hydrated is very important. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes, and avoid excess caffeine, sugar, and junk food for several days before entering the lodge. Additionally, please check with your doctor if you are taking medications that may interfere with heat. I will email all participants a list of how to prepare including this Electrolyte Therapy Recipe to help everyone stay well hydrated throughout the ceremony.

CEREMONY AROUND THE FIRE:

As we step around the portal of the sacred fire, we open the directions and use the drum to amplify our prayers, receiving support for the journey we have chosen to embark on. The intention is everything. Abuelo Fuego (Grandfather Fire) holds the transformative power to take your ailments and purify your fears, judgments, and traumas through your intention and asking. As we initiate the ceremony, our prayers around the fire create a space where participants ask the element of fire and the Great Creator for healing.

CEREMONY INSIDE THE LODGE:

Participants enter the Temazcal, which is heated with volcanic rocks intentionally chosen to carry the spirit of the grandmother spirit or "abuelitas". These abuelitas have been ceremonially heated for hours in a fire tended to by the guardian of the fire, known as the "aguila de fuego" or "fire eagle". The rocks are then placed in a central pit within the lodge, and the Temazcal guide, referred to as a shaman, curandera, or Temazcalera/o, pours warm water with herbs over the abuelitas to create steam. The Temazcalera/o sings, prays, or guides meditation practices, leading the participants according to the directions and themes of the lodge of that day, creating a deeply healing and introspective atmosphere.

The lodge is kept as dark as possible, resembling the inside of a womb, which is uncomfortable at times. Big changes are never met with comfort. Facing our fears is an act of self-love, and doing so in a dark and womb-like space in the community can be exactly what is needed to transmute fear into truth.

Staying present is the most important part of the experience; remain introspective, as the answers are within you, reflecting the Grand Creator. Your biggest enemy is your mind, relax into the discomfort and you shall expand.

FOUR DOORS:
The front door of the lodge opens four times in total to receive additional abuelitas. At these times, participants may choose to exit, but cannot return until the next ceremony. Each of the four doors represents a place on the medicine wheel, an element, and a growth cycle. Prayers, songs, and practices typically follow this rhythmic pattern within the ceremony. Each door can last from 15-20 minutes to one hour or slightly longer depending on the energy that presents itself through the community’s needs.

Time is not a factor when you are in flow with the medicine of the present moment.

BENEFITS:

Physical Detoxification: The intense heat induces sweating, facilitating the removal of toxins from the body. Inhaling the healing properties of the herbs further supports this process and elevates our vibration. Slow down and feel the medicinal properties of the Temazcal.

Mental Clarity: The meditative nature of the ritual fosters relaxation, diminishing stress and anxiety.

Spiritual Renewal: Many participants report a profound connection to nature, their ancestors, and their inner selves. Often, individuals delve into such profound inner spaces that they encounter the connection they've longed for with their true essence. Some even channel healing and divine love from their higher selves and the Creator, receiving messages they've awaited.

Community Bonding: Sharing this intimate experience fosters a sense of community and shared purpose.  Community is crucial in these changing times.

The healing we experience will expand and resonate through our lineage, both past and future, leaving a planetary impact of love.

We know this experience may not be for everyone, but embarking on a Purification + Rebirth Ceremony can be transformative. Whether you're seeking physical detox, mental clarity, or spiritual growth, this ancient practice offers a profound way to reconnect with yourself and the world around you.

May the light of love guide your way,

Yve
